A rectangular wooden icon with recessed panel to the face, gilded surface with painted scene of the Nativity including Mary recumbent on a red cloak and swaddled infant Jesus in a manger with oxen, three magi with gifts, angels in attendance, herald with horn, ritual washing of the new-born child and pensive Joseph addressed by a traveller; Cyrillic legends above in red ink.
