Triassic Period, 250-200 million years BP. A complete prepared fossil Keichousaurus hui skeleton on a rectangular matrix. 1.9 kg, 28.2 x 19.5cm (11 x 7 3/4"). Property of an East Sussex, UK, teacher; formerly from a Devon, UK, collection; previously in the collection of a Chinese gentleman since the 1970s. Keichousaurus was a late-Triassic marine reptile and a member of the Pleurosaur family; it died out around 250 million years ago during the Triassic-Jurassic extinction event. They were specialised fish eaters, and were highly unusual amongst marine reptiles in that they gave birth to live young rather than laying eggs. Condition Report Fine condition, repaired.
