Japan, 18th/19th century, Edo period (1615-1868)A sensitive depiction of a monochrome white hirado horse standing foursquare, only the eyes with hirado-blue painting. The hair is finely incised, its ears are slightly raised and the naturalistic expression is fully accomplished. The beautiful, white, uneven and soft glaze hints at an early work. The belly and hooves unglazed.HEIGHT 20 cmCondition: Good condition. The right ear with a repair.Provenance: From a Viennese private estate.
