此碗造型规整，口沿内绘弦纹两周，碗心绘海水翼龙纹。外壁以青花矾红彩绘海水八怪纹，海马. 狮. 羊. 象. 翼龙. 龟. 鱼等异兽鱼类奔逐于汹涌的波涛间，动感而神秘。拍品绘画细腻，青花纯正明快，红彩艳若晚霞，辉映成趣。
"海八怪"亦称"海兽鱼涛"，始于明宣德朝，多以青花与红彩互为衬托，明代后期采用青花一色绘画，延续至清代仍有仿品。纵观整器，数只海中瑞兽或飞腾于空中，或穿浪而出，姿态各异，形态万千，气势逼人。
