Toshio Nomura (1930-2014) was a Japanese businessman in Kansai area and a private collector. His maternal grandfather, Hisashi Ueno, began working at the Tianjin Concession Consulate in 1913. During his 27 years in China, he collected a large number of Chinese works of art, with a wide range of interests, particularly in porcelain and metal pieces. In 1934, at the age of four, Toshio Nomura moved to Tianjin with his father Takehiro Nomura and his family. His father was old friend with the famous journalist Harrison Forman, whom he interviewed in 1938. At the end of 1940, ten-years-old Toshio returned to Japan with his grandfather Hisashi Ueno and his family, carrying the large antiques collection. In adulthood, Toshio Nomura continued his grandfather's collection career while he was in business. After Hisashi Ueno passed away, Toshio Nomura inherited all of Ueno's estate, including the entire collection of Chinese antiques. This sale is for the heritage of Toshio Nomura.
