莲花生大师为八世纪印度密宗金刚乘的著名大师，他出身于古代印度邬仗国(今巴基斯坦)，其父为印度密教金刚乘的创始人因陀罗部底，因显密双通，752年赤松德赞请其入藏传法。他大力弘传密法，创建桑耶寺，降伏苯教，培养僧才，功勋显著，被奉为宁玛派的祖师，其他教派也奉其为上师。此尊莲花生头戴莲花宝冠，花冠正面镶嵌大颗宝石，双目圆睁，面相威严，身穿交领长袍，下摆铺展于莲台之上，衣纹表现探取写实手法，质感较强， 大师一腿收起，一腿自然下垂。此尊造像整体铸造精细，金色饱满，充分体现了铸造者的虔诚与崇敬。
