Circa 1100-1200 AD Copper pen box. Inscribed with Arabic Kufic text, dedication begins with, the leader. Roundel motifs with birds. Reminiscent of later Sicilian and South Italian decorative work known to be inspired by Arab rule in the region between 10th and 12th centuries. Size: L:193mm / W:38mm; 43.4g Provenance: Private London collection ( B.A); formerly acquired in the 1970s from John Lees collection.
