A Rare Chinese Brown Glazed Earthenware Bottle VaseSouthern Dynasties-Tang DynastyThe bottle vase is elegantly potted with a bulbous lower body supported on a short raised rounded foot, two incised circles where the body meets the well-proportioned neck, the neck tapering to an everted mouth rim. The vase is covered all over with a finely variegated dark brown glaze which stops neatly well above the foot revealing the fine gray stoneware on the slightly concave base burnt reddish in the firing. Height 6 1/4 inches. Provenance:Bangor, Maine Collection prior to 1980. Note:It is unusual to find a brown-glazed bottle vase from this period.
