A Chinese Jizhou Bottle VaseSouthern Song DynastyPotted with a bulbous lower body supported on a short cylindrical foot and tapers to a well-proportioned neck with an everted rim. The vase is covered all over with a finely variegated ground of buff, caramel, russet and dark brown tones simulating tortoise shell, which stops neatly above the everted foot revealing the gray stoneware on the slightly concave knife-cut base with two concentric circles incised around the circumference.
