Aaron Edwin Penley, ANWS, British 1807-1870- Mountainous landscape scene with goats, on the banks of a lake; watercolour on paper, signed and dated 'ey-1860' (lower right), 22.5 x 26 cm. Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: Penley was a highly distinguished painter of landscapes, portraits and miniatures, and was the official watercolour-painter in ordinary to William IV and Queen Adelaide. He painted a miniature of Queen Victoria from a sitting in 1840, today held in the Londonâs National Portrait Gallery [NPG4108], and taught Victoria's son Prince Arthur to paint. He exhibited at Londonâs Royal Academy from 1835 to 1857 and was a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water-colour.Please refer to department for condition report
