A rare Chinese Yijun pottery 'leaf' brushwasher, 18th/19th century, delicately modelled as a pointed leaf with curling wavy edges, atop five short feet, covered in a jun-type glaze of pale lavender that pools to a rich dark blue in the well, 10cm long, with a carved and pierced fitted wood stand in the form of a leaf, in a fitted silk-lined boxProvenance: Private collection, acquired in Hong Kong, 1954十八/十九世紀 宜鈞釉秋葉洗來源:私人收藏,於1954年購自香港。c.f. A similar Yijun-ware brushwasher, dated as late Ming/early Qing dynasty, was sold at China Guardian, 百瓷集韻·掌玩心悅——四季瓷器夜場, 27th March 2021, lot 3733. Note: Yixing pottery with a jun-type glaze is known as 'Yijun'. Popular in the late Ming and throughout the Qing dynasty, Yijun wares imitated junyao pieces from the Song dynasty, and consequently favour with the imperial court, who collected and revered pieces that paid tribute to what is considered a high point in ceramic production. 品相報告 Condition Report: Some pitting to the glaze in the well of the brushwasher, with some signs of surface wear in this area. A minute graze to the edge of one of the folded edges. Some wear around the feet, a possible loss to one of them - possibly ground down during the manufacturing process. With some flaking and loss to the glaze around the feet. Some old wear to the wood stand. Please see images for full condition overview.
