23rd-20th century B.C. A group of ten bronze stamp seals including six apanied by typed and signed notes by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which state: (V-542) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 50 x 49 x 16 mm. This bears the shape of the design, withpartmented and open-work face which is flat, and flat back on which a handle of inverted V-shape is mounted. The design consists of a Greek cross with long arms, which are supported by struts from the middle of each arm which join those from the adjacent arm at an angle of less than 90°. Thises from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. it is a rare design and apart from slight damage to the end of one arm and a little bending of the whole it is in good condition.'; (R-505) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 44.5 x 44 x 13 mm. This is round, with flat face and flat back, on which is a pierced loop handle. The design, which is bothpartmented and open-work, consists of an outer bend within four oblongs with thickened ends meet in the middle, giving a slight impression of a square. The spaces left are filled with a kind of T-shape with short vertical and long cross-bar. Thises from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. The outer rim is dented but otherwise the piece is in good condition.'; (R-510) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 59 x 59 x 20 mm. This is round with flat face and flat back, on which a handle of inverted V-shape is mounted. The design is bothpartmented and open-work. It consists of a kind of rosette, with a central circle, a middle band of six circles around it, and a further band of fourteen outer circles, struts holding the circles together firmly. Thises from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. The outer edge is a little damage, and the whole is covered with incrustation, which could be removed. Generally it is in good condition.'; (V-859) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 43 x 43 x 16 mm. This is round, with flat face and flat back, on which is mounted a handle of inverted U-shape. The design, which is bothpartmented and open-work, consists of a central Greek cross within a rhomb with zig-zag sides, and that within a plain outer band. Thises from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is covered with thick incrustation, and the outer rim is worn and damage.'; (V-22) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 50.5 x 49 x 16 mm. This is round, with scalloped outer edge. The face is flat, as is the back, on which is mounted a handle of inverted U-shape. The design, which is bothpartmented and open-work, consists of a central cross with curving arms with struts between the arms to the outer band with scalloped outer rim. Thises from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. There is incrustation on the surface, and the outer rim is slightly dented, but the piece is in good condition.'
