A MASSIVE BRONZE 'ARCHAISTIC' BALUSTER VASE, LATE MING TO EARLY QINGChina, 17th-18th century. Well cast, the baluster sides rising from a short spreading foot to a waisted neck with galleried rim. The rounded shoulder with taotie masks in high relief and four distinct vertical flanges, above confronting dragons divided by smaller flanges, above stiff leaves enclosing confronting phoenixes, all against key-fret and other diapered grounds. With a key-fret band at the rim and a foliate band above the foot.Provenance: The Mee-Din and Robert W. Moore Collection. Robert W. Moore is a famed California collector of Chinese and Korean art, whose passion began in the 1950s when he served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea.
