A SET OF THREE MAHAGONY BOXES AND COVERS, 20TH CENTURYChina. Consisting of a box carved as a qin (zither), inlaid with brass wire, the interior with two compartments and another small container. The second box carved as a scroll with two drawers. The smallest box in shape of a bulky book, incised to the sides to imitate pages.Provenance: German private collection.Condition: The book-shaped box with age-related cracks to the lid, the drawers of the scroll-box difficult to operate. The cover of the zither-box slightly warped and with a minuscule chip, smoothened over time.
