A Lund's Bristol or early Worcester pickle dish, circa 1752A Lund's Bristol or early Worcester pickle dish, circa 1752Of scallop shell form, painted in enamel colours with a curious rock in pale purple in the centre, an insect and flowers in the border, 9.4cm long, incised cross mark to reverseProvenanceZorensky Collection, Bonhams, 23 February 2005, lot 4Sylvia and Alan Low CollectionThis pattern with a single rock in the centre has its origins in a blue and white design first used at Limehouse and adopted at Lund's factory. The enamelled version was probably one of the earliest productions at Worcester and it is possible some white glazed shell pickle dishes made at Bristol were enamelled at Worcester. A similar dish from the Billie Pain Collection was sold by Bonhams on 26 November 2003, lot 105.
