本品玉料厚实，玉质纯净亮白，以白玉琢制，厚片状，两面雕成一只凤鸟，凤首处镂雕而成，凤嘴口衔如意形灵芝，凤首朝向旭日，该处雕工仔细精巧，白玉本质更显细腻柔润，再浮雕凤尾，透琢凤尾眼、翼羽上阴刻丝丝细纹，轮廓分明、刀法简练、玉石琢磨圆润。凤凰回首朝阳，静中有动，口衔灵芝，寓意如意吉祥凤鸣朝阳，寄望贤才遇时而起。美国知名玉器藏家哈德门（Alan and Simone Hartman）有藏一件卧凤玉摆件，该卧凤口衔桃枝，录于Robert Kleiner 着，《Chinese Jades from the Collection of Alan and Simone Hartman》，1996年，页250，编号199，本品以灵芝衬托凤凰，尾部刻意透雕凤尾眼，雕工细致，整器制作别具匠心。
