The inside of the bottle is moon-white, with smear glaze on the inner mouth rim. On the bottom there are spiral and chatter marks. The flambé-glaze technique was an innovation by Tang Ying, the superintendent of the Jingdezheng imperial kiln, while he was trying to replicate the unique glazing of Jun wares. The flambé-glaze first occurred before the Tang dynasty, observed in a sparse number of celadon porcelain wares. By Qing Dynasty, especially during Yongzheng and Qianlong, flambé-glaze was regarded as a sort of auspicious sign, and reproduced. For a similar item, see the Art Institute of Chicago, No. 1925.1446, as seen in figure 1. See also Christie's, Hongkong, June 2016, Lot 3335.
