Celebrated for his naturalistic depictions of horses, dogs, and birds and flowers, Ma Jin studied with Zhao Shuru (1874-1945) and Jin Cheng (1878-1926). This painting is a fantastic representation of the artist's style--the dog is lifelike and animated, and the colors vibrant and striking.
