**Originally Listed At $500** Native American, Southern United States, Texas / Northern Mexico, Late Archaic to Woodland, ca. 1000 BCE to 500 CE. A large hand-knapped bifacial chert knife or spear blade with an elliptical cross section known as a corner or base tang biface or knife. The blade is asymmetrical with a slightly curved spine and notches to the basal corners create a barbed shoulders and an expanded stem for a wood handle to be hafted with. The unusual shape may have had a symbolic function, perhaps a burial item for the afterlife, rather than utilitarian.
