**Originally Listed At $300** North Africa, Morocco, Fez (Fes) region, ca. 19th century CE. A lovely pottery bowl known as a mokhfia, presenting a rounded bottom and thick walls that rise to a flared rim, all sitting upon a ring-form foot. Adorned in hues of cobalt, lemon yellow, and emerald atop a white glaze ground, the elegant dish is skillfully hand-painted to feature floral motif inside an octagon at the center surrounded by 8 decorative trapezoids that line the walls, all filled with intricate geometric, lattice, polka dot, and vegetal patterns. A design of diagonal striations additionally embellishes the rim, while nice remains of copper-hued sheets of brass line the foot and rim. Mokhfias are used for serving couscous and are pierced through the foot for displaying on a wall when not in use.
