A JAPANESE LACQUER BOX AND COVER MEIJI ERA, 19TH CENTURY Modelled as a peach, the lid decorated with two small birds flying towards a temple, the scene rendered in red, gold and black lacquer; together with a pair of long rectangular lacquer batons, possibly scroll weights, embellished with flowerheads and karakusa scrolls, the box 10.8cm. (4) Provenance: from the collection of Dr Oliver Impey (1936-2005), and Dr Jane (Mellanby) Impey (1938-2021), of Cumnor Place, Oxford. PLEASE NOTE THIS LOT IS TO BE OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE.
