PAIR OF EXQUISITE VASE-SHAPED EMPIRE CANDLESTICKS. Thomire, Pierre-Philippe. Paris. Date: 1st half 19th century. Technique: Gilt bronze. Description: Square base with lancet leaf and palmettes. On it a rectangular plinth with applied wine leaf wreaths. The large, mounted crater vase in the center decorated with bacchante and bacchant in shallow relief. On top a six-flame candelabra attachment with short, curved arms. Measurement: Height each 50cm, ø 28,5cm. Mark: On the bottom of the base inscr. 'Thomire A Paris'.
