Often considered Pakistan's greatest living calligraphic artist, his works assimilate calligraphic design with line and form. His designs are based on silver foil and turn into vibrant colours when chemicals are added to them. His works often deal with the Oneness of God and the desire for peace as evident in the present lot. He has been awarded the National Award by Pakistan's National Council of at the Arts in 1984 as well as the 1996 Shakir Ali Award.
