Known for his impressionistic landscapes using both oils and watercolours, scenes from the holy city of Varasani feature regularly in his works, as seen in the present lot. Here we can see figures meditating and taking dips in the river against the backdrop of a temple and ghats. Shirwadkar's works have been exhibited in India, France, Germany, England, Switzerland and the USA and it was at the turn of the century in 2000 that he held his 50th solo exhibition at Artpilgrim Gallery in New Delhi.
