Description 18 x 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 in.Note: This particular model is based on an ancient Greek sculpture which was copied by Pierre Lepautre (1659-1744), a French sculptor who won the Prix de Rome and studied at the French Academy in Rome. He carved Atalanta for King Louis XIV to be used at Chateau de Marly.Atalanta`s story is part of Greek mythology. Atalanta`s father desired a boy, she was taken to Mount Parthenion to be exposed. Artemis, a she-bear, who`s cubs had been recently killed by hunters, found Atalanta and nursed her. The hunters discovered Atalanta and raised her in the mountains. Atalanta grew up to be a swift footed virgin who eschewed men and devoted herself to the huntress Artemis.Property of a European Collector品相报告: Condition Report In good overall condition with a warm patina.
