A Tang dynasty straw glazed camel on wooden plinth, Tang dynasty (618-907), China, A classic Tang dynasty amber and straw glazed funerary figure of a camel. With a raised head and standing on a plinth, set in a custom wooden base. With a positive Oxford TL test., H 51.5 cm (or 54.5 cm including wooden plinth), This figure has been in the same Dutch family since the 1950's when by repute it was bought from art dealers G.J. Nieuwenhuizen Segaar in The Hague., In good condition. A few holes drilled for the TL test (see photos) but apart from that no other damage or restoration.
