Ca. 300-400 AD.An ancient Roman wheel-thrown redware pottery dish of a squat form that rests atop a low ring base. The dish features broad walls, a shallow basin, and a groove between the rim and basin that was meant to accommodate a lid. The centre of the basin is decorated with a vegetal pattern of flowers and leaves.Size: L:45mm / W:280mm ; 755gProvenance: Property of a London Ancient Art Gallery; formerly in the famous Alison Barker collection, a retired London barrister; acquired between the early 1960s to 1990s.
