Description NICOLAUS, EGON-KARL (Hamburg 1928-1988 Cologne), Painting: "Composition with Numbers, Lineaments and Geometric Forms" in bright colours, acrylic on canvas, signed lower left "Nicolaus" and dated 1968 as well as signed and dated again on the reverse and numbered "No. 10" on the stretcher. Nicolaus studied at the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg from 1949 and was a pupil of Willi Baumeister in Stuttgart from 1950 to 1951. From 1957 he lived in Paris for several years.
