Von Assaulenko, who studied in Kiev and St. Petersburg, lived and worked after the Second World War in Rheine and Plön, where also large parts of his estate are kept (Falkenhof-Museum Rheine; Alexej von Assaulenko-Kulturstiftung Plön).
