Stylised Art Deco sculpture on an octagonally broken, narrow rectangular stand (illustrated in: "Alistair Duncan, Art Déco Sculpture, Thames & Hudson Ltd", ISBN 9780500239483). The artist, who preferred to work on animal motifs and sports themes, studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in the USA and in Paris with the animal sculptor Emmanuel Frémiet. Besides sculptures he also worked on ceramics, lamps and detailed designs for buildings such as gates or stove screens.
