澄泥硯為四大名硯之一，唐至五代蔚為流行，並延續至明清。清人朱棟《硯小史》稱讚澄泥硯：“細膩發墨，用一匙之水，經旬不涸，一窿之墨，盛暑不乾。”這件澄泥硯為清代之佳品，形制小巧端莊，方正之餘又不乏圓潤典雅的韻味，色澤漆黑，質地溫潤，堅硬如玉，撫之細膩，觸手生暈，可謂得泥沙之妙，硯背刻“趙奕”二字。其所配硯匣正面刻“味諫軒”三字，取自宋人黃庭堅為蔡次律小軒所題名之“味諫軒”，其意為初苦而終有味，足見作者之用心。 钤印：赵奕砚盒题字：味谏轩。 附：红木天地盖砚盒、桐木供箱尺寸：2.1×8.9×7.8cm
