An interesting Blue and White Transferware Plate with a Rural Scene. Coysh and Henrywood list this scene as being a "View near Colnebrook"in their Dictionary of Blue and White Printed Pottery (page 379) where it appears with a different floral border and maker. This plate has an impressed mark from Swansea Pottery in South Wales that was used from 1824 to 1850. The mark is poorly impressed, but one can make out the name DILLWYN with a little effort. The plate measures 10 inches in diameter and is in good condition for its age. There is a small chip in the rim on the back side that can be seen in the last image. A nice piece for collectors of British country scenes.
