The back is carved in the same way. 此山子为玉子籽料，形近椭圆，玉质温润有泽，采用高浮雕之法雕琢纹样，正面远山如黛，数株松柏，隐士行旅，其高浮雕之技法使画面别具层次感。背面则以同样之手法雕琢，以笔墨皴法雕琢山石，千岩竞秀，松如伞覆，层次井然。整体布局合理，工艺考究，雕琢线条皆一丝不苟，条条分明。除彰显玉石本质的美之外，又兼表达了艺术的完整性。同时因儒家尚玉，君子“比德于玉”，玉山子更多的承载了文人内心的精神意趣。
