AN IRON-RED AND SEPIA ‘LANDSCAPE AND POEM’ BRUSHPOT, BITONG, GUANGXU MARK AND PERIODChina, 1875-1908. Of rectangular form with straight sides, painted in iron-red to the wider sides with mountain landscapes, one side depicting two pavilions nestled amid rocks and trees, the reverse with a scholar walking along a river towards a pavilion. The shorter sides each with a poem describing mountain landscapes and three seal marks. The recessed base with an iron-red six-character markda Qing Guangxu nianzhi and of the period.Inscriptions: One poem describes a spring landscape with trees covered in red blossoms amid mountains, green meadows, and travelers, titled ‘three poems on spring excursions in Fengle pavilion’, written by Ouyang Xiu, a Song period historian and poet.
