Paul H.I. Chang) was a close companion to his father during the artist's California years and thereafter. Paul served as his father's assistant in the studio, but he was also a trained painter in his own right. Together, father and son held several joint exhibitions of their work, including at the Laky Gallery in Carmel in 1972, the Erickson Gallery in Palo Alto in 1973, and the Ankrum Gallery in Los Angeles in 1979.
