历口在清属祁门十八都，历山发源的大北水自北穿村而过，河岸西部的“十九都、二十都赴城无他径可绕”。同时，该地又是两岸“上通浔汉，下达苏杭”的必由之道。此桥始建于清乾隆三十七年，系资福寺僧人亦云募资所建。现存利济桥，用青石砌成，为光绪二十四年由祁门茶商集体捐助重建，是祁门旧时最长的石拱桥。
