桐乡，地处杭嘉湖平原腹地，是浙江省嘉兴市下辖县级市。是志创修于光绪三年，光绪十三年编定付梓。记事止于光绪十二年。卷首四卷为诏谕、天章、恩锡、巡跸。下文分疆域、食货、人物、艺文等十志，分十门七十三目。是志积作者十数年之心力，旁征博取，去非求是而成。体大义精，文详事核，为桐乡县志之上品。疆域志所附县境图系采用科学方法测绘而成，准确明晰远胜旧志。此志载桥梁独多，共一千一百五十余座。食货志中物产目记桐乡特产并详其制作。本志补旧增新，考伪订误处尤多。卷三、四为同版白纸补配。收图众多，非常工细。
