玄妙观，在今江苏苏州，为正一道著名宫观，创建于西晋咸宁二年（276），初名真庆道院。元贞元元年（1295）成宗取《老子》“玄之又玄，众妙之门”语义，诏改“玄妙观”，清代避圣祖玄烨名讳，改称“元妙观”。卷首有元妙观图，是书包含本志、殿宇、祠庙、道流传、金石、集诗、集文等十二卷。 顾沅(1799-1851)清代学者、藏书家。字澧兰，号湘舟，又自号沧浪渔父，江苏长洲(今苏州)人。
