是书为我国著名农业昆虫学家曹骥先生所记。 曹骥，1916年4月30日生于北平。1927年，小学毕业后随父到天津考入南开中学读初中。1930年，回北平考入北平师范大学附属中学到高中毕业。1935年，考入清华大学生物系。抗日战争爆发，清华大学南迁，曹骥暂在燕京大学借读一年，不久经海路去昆明西南联大。书中所记正是曹骥先生从燕京大学转入西南联大期间的所见所闻。
