TORII KIYONAGA (1752-1815) EDO PERIOD, C.1787 Two Japanese woodblock prints from a triptych entitled Mimeguri no yudachi (A Sudden Shower at the Mimeguri Inari Shrine), depicting travellers caught in a rainstorm, both signed Kiyonaga ga , 37.7cm x 25cm and 38.3cm x 25cm respectively; the frame with a label reading 'bought from Murakami, 17 June 1909' in French. Provenance: from the collection of Adolphe Stoclet (1871-1949). See the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, access. nos.11.13972, 11.13985 and 11.13986 for another example of this triptych.
