Ca. 1200 BC. A remarkable fibula brooch, a true masterpiece of ancient metalwork. This exquisite piece is crafted from intricately wound and arranged bronze round shank wires, forming a large and elegant spiral at the top of the fibula. The attention to detail is remarkable, with every element perfectly placed to create a stunning and harmonious design. Below the spiral is a circular link with spectacle finials, adding to the brooch's visual appeal. Further below, a hoop with four suspended chains completes the design, culminating in a large pin to the reverse. In the Bronze Age, fibulae like this one used to fasten clothing, such as cloaks or tunics and were often decorated with intricate designs or precious materials. The fibulae were not only functional but also served as a status symbol, displaying the wealth and taste of the wearer. Cf.
