Continuing in the style of Gupta period sculpture, the face is rounded with a broad nose and plump lips. The elaborate central crown leaf supports a large ovoid jewel held in place with a band depicting rows of pearls.pare with an image of Kubera from Uttar Pradesh in the Norton Simon Museum, Pasadena (Pal,Art from the Indian Subcontinent, 1988, p. 25, fig. 6), and a head of Shiva sold at Christie's, Amsterdam, 19 November 1997, lot 29.
