A Chinese ink painting of a winter scene signed Dai Jin, Ming Dynasty, possibly earlier, 25.5 x 25.5 cm (or 42.5 x 42.5 cm including frame), Provenance: Collection of Peter Boode (1887-1972), by descent to the current owner. Painted with ink on silk which was applied to paper and framed behind glass. Signed in the top right corner and along the left centre side. An old label on the back states that this painting was; "painted by Tai Chi (active ca. 1446), the seal reads: ‘Tai Chin of Ch’ien T'ang (Hangchow)". Tai Chi is the alternative spelling of Dai Jin (1388–1462), a Chinese landscape painter best known for being the founder of the Zhe School. Some holes and old insect damage (see photos).
