A THANGKA OF WHITE MAHAKALA, 19TH CENTURYTibet. Distemper on cloth, with a silk brocade frame, mounted as a hanging scroll with wood handles. The Six-armed White Mahakala is a highly revered form of Mahakala, renowned for his ability to fulfill the wishes of tantric practitioners and promote their economic well-being. The deity is depicted holding different items in each of his six arms, including a chopper, a hand-drum, a precious jewel, a trident, a hook, and a skull-cup filled with jewels, he is shown standing on two elephant-headed beings on a lotus throne and surrounded by deities.
