此壶段泥制成，泥料细腻。壶身呈圆形，宽口溜肩，溜肩，压盖圆鼓饱满，“玉石”形壶钮，提拿自如。一弯直流自壶腹身顺势而出，圈把，壶底塑三只“半月”形足，烘托整器，呈现拙朴厚重之味。壶身通体采用壶身铭刻诗文手法装饰“毋执牛耳，以砺吾齿”，此类铭文为常用曼生壶铭文，并落款“已末冬日萃斋大兄清玩”，从署款来看，此件器物应为当时定制赠予之物，意义非凡。此紫砂茗壶与诗、书、画、印合为一壶，将紫砂壶进入“文人壶”的高雅境界，为清中期文人茶器精品，值得宝玩。
