|“卍”字是佛教的纹饰，佛教认为它是释迦牟尼胸部所现的瑞相，是佛陀的三十二相之一，也是八十种好之一。梵文的意思为“吉祥之所集”，象征吉祥、万福和万寿之意。唐代武则天长寿二年采用汉字，读作“万”。“卍”字的四端向外延伸，又可演化成各种装饰花纹，寓意福寿绵长不断。隋唐以后，成为日常器物的装饰性纹饰。
