Etruscan 5th-3rd cent. B.C. Bronze.
L. 5 33/64 in; 14 cm
Rectangular grater. Parallel rows of round holes were alternatingly punched into the bronze sheet from both sides. As the holes are very fine, the grater was probably used for spices.
Minor losses at the rim, one short crack sealed.
Formerly German priv. coll., before 2000. Thereafter Bavarian priv. coll. With Gerhard Hirsch Nachfolger, auction 341-344, lot 956, Munich.
