沈尹默（1883－1971）字中、秋明，号君墨，别号鬼谷子。祖籍浙江湖州，生于陕西，著名学者、诗人、书法家、教育家。他以书法闻名，民国初年，书坛就有“南沈北于”之称。二十世纪四十年代书坛有“南沈北吴”之说。与李志敏合称“北大书法史两巨匠”，著名文学家徐平羽先生，谓沈老之书法艺术成就，“超越元、明、清，直入宋四家而无愧”。一九六一年冬月，沈尹默画竹。墨戏
