歙石，砚做长方抄手式，砚堂宽浅平阔，于首收敛，微微向下斜削做罗汉肚，深挖墨池为落潮式，此类玉堂砚自宋代以来流传以广，深为文人雅士所喜爱。苏东坡在《孔毅夫龙尾砚铭》中记载“瓜肤而理，金声而玉德”即形容其手感温润细嫩，其纹理细密。其质地如玉，其声音如同金属一般，石上有鱼子纹，为墨色细小的点状，分布密集均匀，状如鱼卵，为歙石之中名贵的石品花纹。
