Painted enamel. 2 oval cabochon-cut rock crystals, circa 3.6 x 4.8 mm. 1 carved yellow beryl, circa 6.8 x 4.6 cm; 1 sliced piece of Mediterranean coral. Length circa 6.8 cm, width circa 4.6 cm. Circa 161.9 g. Technical execution: the figure of the cat has been exactingly carved by hand from a rough piece of delicate yellow beryl. Small rock crystals in reverse glass painting technique are used to represent the eyes, whilst a small carved piece of coral has been used for the tongue. The engraving is executed in fine style, corresponding with the working method of the Idar-Obersteiner Engraving Tradition. The figure has been executed by Bernhard Becker.
